The windows are screwed into place, shimmed foam or air tightness and then mortar is used to match with the stone wall and our energy-efficient windows with low glass. All vinyl will never need paint and they look a lot better. The walls of this foundation are stone. Walls and stone walls are bumpy, so you can't really install rigid foam boards on these walls. That's one reason we're not doing that.
Another reason is that foam boards really need to be covered like went by drywall if you're gonna finish the basement because of fire coats, you shouldn't leave foam exposed on walls in living spaces or potential living spaces crawl space in attics, it's okay rim, joist the code says it's okay, but foundation walls really need to be covered. We're going to use some fiberglass blanket insulation in this case which will conform to the bumpiness of this wall and irregularities, and the homeowner is not going to be finishing this basement.
We have too low of a ceiling height anyway, so we don't have to worry about it being left exposed. So we have to take all the obstructions off of the wall so that we can get our insulate behind it. The fiberglass blankets are tucked into the basement waterproofing system previously installed so that if there's a wall leak, the water will go down into the basement waterproofing system.
The insulation is cut around windows, electric boxes, pipes, and other obstructions, the customers still in the middle of a big remodeling project. But, as you can see, we got the wall insulation all done. We got plenty of insulation on these stone walls to prevent heat. Moving from more to less 2-part spray, the foam is used to insulate the rim joist from the inside.
